2 Stars for Quality of Material

Posted by Dustin on 7th May 2020

This product required welding to fit my 2013 EZGO RXV and therefore was not made for this model. I compared this rack to a friend who purchased a ‘Universal’ model for a cheaper price and it was the exact same material and paint and hole configuration. I gave this product 2 stars due to the appearance and strength of the material, however, very disappointed in the fact that I had to spend several hours welding and reconfiguring the rack to attach to my roof.

Overpriced (manufacturer) considering it had to be modified to fit

(This review is critical of this RHOX product not of my experience with ExtremeKartz. ExtremeKartz was great) I had shopped for a roof rack and was pleased to find this RHOX rack that is billed as specifically fitting the Yamaha Drive. I went with ExtremeKartz because they had the best price with shipping. I have a 2013 Drive that has a factory suntop and this kit does not fit the way it is written out in the instructions. I did confirm that what I received was the Yamaha Drive specific kit with RHOX and ExtremeKartz. Even thoroughly reading the instructions and inventorying the parts, I could not fully confirm the non-fitting until the first holes had been drilled in the top (no turning back now). The suntop pictured in the instructions did not match the factory top on my Drive and the "custom" brackets that came with the kit don't have the correct angles and had to be "heavily persuaded" with a rubber mallet into a usable form. The hardware that is included did not match the inventory list and was very soft. Any thought that the hardware could be used to pull everything into shape was soon dashed by stripped bolts that had to be cut away with a grinding wheel. Bottom line: This product is too high priced due to the fact that the (generic) rack was the only usable part. For any that puchase; do a google search for the madjax rack installation. This will have you drill straight through the steel roof supports and be a simpler and cleaner installation where you will just need to re-bend the rack support brackets to fit. Also replace the hardware with Grade 8 and this will allow you to tighten and pull the whole installation more square without stripping out the bolts.
